Nation location: Southern cone, South america
Nation name: Socite
Flag meaning:. It's a spin off of the mapuche flag. A very loose spin off. Infact, I wouldn't even call this a true mapuche flag. However, it is supposed to be, believe or not, the flag of independent mapuche
Mapuche referring to the region in South America sometimes referred to as araucaria
As you know, Socite is named after the strategy that that kept our freedom and indepnedence from Chile, the Socite maneuver.
The black and white border stands for the mountains that surround and protect mapuche. The colors stand for every country we fought off. First the incas, then the spaniards, and lastly, the chileans. The green is for victory against Inca who's empire never expanded past mapuche
. The yellow-orange is for victory against Spain, who couldn't colonize us after subduing all others
. The blue is for the victory of the revolution against Chile, after a 100 year occupation. The Chileans did defeat us, but we never gave up, and in the war of independence, we regained our freedom..
The stars symbolize the Socite maneuver that saved us from Chile. In 1916 after the war of independence, Chile never really accepted we were independent. They gave up on trying to attack us, however, they were still spiteful and refused to accept our independence. Less than 30 years later in 1936, the Chilean army attempted to cross our border, and marched straight into our capital! The generals of Socite, which was still just mapuche at the time, came up with a plan to halt the Chilean army. Let the troops make it to the capital, he said. We capture the surrounding 3 cities and cut them off instead. This strategy was nicknamed the Socite maneuver. You'll notice the stars are in this position
The 3 cities surronding the capital were in the same position. We won the war due to the general's thinking, and we made Chile recognize our independence under the name, "Socite" . The capital city was in ruins after the Chileans leveled it to the ground. We needed new ones, and we are, after all, sentimental people. Our 3 new capital cities that were founded from the 3 original Socite cities after the war was over.
The stars represent the cities. And their significance in the invasion.
Lastly, the red symbols in the corner are a tribute to our history as mapuches.
We like the simplicity of the flag;. It makes for a good design, something easy to recognize and beautiful nevertheless.
Our country has been independent since 1916. It has been Socite since Chile recognized our country in 1938
Here's an imgur link if that is easier to see. As you can see, very simple yet powerful design: https://imgur.com/a/x1sQ6
